VM-480B Search Handle Overview:

The Vivax Metrotech VM-480B Search Handle can be mounted between the receiver and transmitter halves of the VM-480B locator.  This unique utility locator has a “split-box” design which includes the receiver on one side and transmitter on the other.  When the search handle accessory is added, the correct distance and position is set between the two.  As a result, the user can conduct blind searches, ground surveys, and locate underground metal masses.

Search Handle Use:

The VM-480B can use the transmitter’s signal or a line radiating 50/60Hz to locate.  Assemble the split box Search Handle and mount the VM-480B transmitter onto the handle using the screw-end.  Secure it into the transmitter with the handle screw.  Once you’ve attached the transmitter, place it on the ground and attached the receiver portion of the VM-480B to the handle.  Use the two handle screws to attach the handle to the threaded bushings on the receiver.  The receiver should be perpendicular to the the transmitter.  Because of the search handle’s positioning, this process is simpler and more effective.
