vLoc3-XLF Overview:
The vLoc3-XLF locator uses extra-low frequencies specific for long-line locating. The XLF low frequencies travel further distances with less coupling onto adjacent lines. These frequencies are also less susceptible to distortion. A few applications ideal for low-frequency locating are long-haul fiber lines, metropolitan loop networks, and pipeline transmission lines. The bright full-color display and two sets of screened 3D antennas make it easy to see signal distortion. Along with the classic locate screens, the vLoc3 series locators offer new locate perspective screens of:
- Vector Mode: With this mode you can walk beside the line instead of on top of it. Useful for high traffic areas and places with a fence or obstacle in the way.
- Transverse Graph Mode: shows both peak and null at the same time.
- Plan View Mode: shows the relative orientation of the cable at any angle.
- Sonde Mode: graphical Sonde screen with guidance arrows. Follow the picture of the sonde!
vLoc3 Series Locate Modes:
The vLoc3-XLF is part of the family of highly user-configurable Vivax Metrotech vLoc3 series utility locators. Each contains eight passive locate modes, fault-find mode, SD (showing the direction of outgoing current), and a range of configurable frequencies from 20Hz to 83.1kHz.
- Classic Locate Mode: This is the original locate mode with additional distortion alert levels.
- Vector Mode: With this mode you can walk beside the line instead of on top of it. Useful for high traffic areas and places with a fence or obstacle in the way.

Available Upgrades and Customizations:
Visual and mechanical vibration alerts can also be configured by the user providing warnings for shallow depth, overload, overhead cables, and excessive swinging. In addition, Plug-in-play options for the receiver include an optional Bluetooth module usable with external GPS devices and the vLoc3-MLA (marker locator adapter), which plugs into the accessory socket to locate buried markers.
